A House In Many Parts is a 2 week festival organized with the support of the Goethe Institut, the French Embassy and the Fond Francoallemand, to take place from the 1st - 16th of December, 2020. The artistic director of this festival is Abhijan Toto, who will invite practitioners from France, Germany and Thailand to collaborate on a series of events to take place across this time. The events bring together cinema, theatre, performance, architecture and discursive programming to create a series of assemblies around questions of collective futures, and the presents we occupy.
The festival took place against the background of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as socio-political upheaval in the country, responding to both these urgencies inventively. The festival acted as a safe space for political and cultural expression at a time of governmental repression, bringing together visual artists, performers, musicians, filmmakers and more in a month-long series of programmes that took place in ten venues across Bangkok, including in art spaces and found environments, as well as in the public realm. The festival realised ambitious and experimental new commissions and facilitated international exchange, even during a time of travel bans and border closures.
